ALL STARS 2011 - TARAS MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Saturday 4th February 2012

Congrats to Tara's Seven that scooped Awards.

They are Ann Gleeson (Holycross, Tipp), Niamh Keating (Granagh/Ballingarry, Salthill & Portobello) Bid Grennan (Tullougher, Kilkenny) Meabh Brennan (Glen Rovers, Cork), Joanne Hamilton (Cushendun, Antrim), Denise Gilligan (Craughwell, Galway) and Angela Kenneally (Mullinavat, Kilkenny).

All-Stars will be held on Saturday 4th February 2012 at the Corrib Rest in Queens Park - with thanks to Beano Collins for organising the funding and the event.

FAREWELL ROSIE CUSACK - Rosie Cusack, star of Camogie and Football circles bids farewell to London as she returns to her native Australia having lived in London the last 6 and a half years.

Little did she know when she entered London's revolving door in 2005 that she would become such an integral part of London GAA.

Hitting the ground running, Rosie immediately made a big impression on the Tara Camogie squad (Tara). Having never picked up a hurl before 2007, she secured immediate success in her first full season by winning the Junior League and Junior Championship with Tara in 2008 and was Tara's Junior Player of the Year in the same season also.

Her dominance and skills shone so much that she was immediately regraded to senior level for the 2009 season. This did little to stand in her way and she went on to secure the treble of Senior League and Senior Championship success with Tara in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

A tower of strength for the Tara's and having formed a formidable midfield partnership with Meabh Brennan of Cork who has played by Rosie's side in virtually all of Tara's matches this years, it is little wonder Rosie was called in to the London Camogie panel and has played with them also since 2009 Whilst she has played all of her games this year in midfield, in previous years she has also played corner back for Tara.

She narrowly missed out on All Ireland glory with Tara who were beaten in the All Ireland Club final in 2011 by Inagh of Clare. However Rosie and the Tara team made history in the process by being the first London team ever to reach the final!

Further accolades have been bestowed on her and she was awarded Tara's Most Improved Player of the year in 2010 . This was awarded to her because of her contribution to Tara and the London County Camogie team having scored a hat trick of goals against Carlow.

Whilst a fantastic camogie player, with skills and strength in abundance, Rosie is also a dual camogie and football player . Rosie started her London football career with Holloway Gaels in 2006.

A GAA star through and through, Rosie was also called to the London ladies football panel and won the All Ireland Junior Ladies Football Championship with London in 2008 - arguably London ladies footballers greatest achievement to date. Her performance in this code was so great it earned her an All Star in the same season, being the highest accolade for a player.

In 2011 Rosie joined Kingdom Kerry Gaels (KKG). Her flexibility is clearly seen as Rosie has played both as goal keeper and full forward for KKG helping them to win the Provincial Plate in 2011.

Rosie also served on the Tara Committee in the last few years, most notably as Vice Chair in 2010 and 2011.

Whilst never being one to miss a club or county social also it is a wonder where she finds time to fit it all in!

By playing camogie and football at both club and county and achieving the incredible successes she has won despite not being native to Ireland is phenomenal and she leaves these shores a true legend!

Tara Camogie Club would like to extend their huge thanks and appreciation to Rosie for her commitment to the club and London GAA as a whole during her time here and wish her a safe journey home and all the best for the future. You will be dearly missed by all.

Birmingham Tournament March 2011
Tara Camogie Club London begin the season where they left off last year

Tara Camogie Club started the 2011 season as they finished the 2010 season, with another piece of silverware. Tara ended the 2010 season on a high with a win in the League Final. Tara travelled to Birmingham for the International Birmingham Tournament on Saturday 12th March and travelled back to London winning the cup competition and also securing player of the tournament in Bid Grennan.

Tara travelled with a strong team featuring some of the regular team in Denise Gilligan, Joanne Hamilton, Angela Kenneally, Helen Murphy, Rosie Cusack, Sheila Fernandes and Bid Grennan. However there were some new faces to the team also in Maria Casey, Ellen O'Donovan, Linda Cummins and one new player to camogie Janine O'Gorman. The team on the day were mentored by Niamh Keating who just had a knee operation and is recovering nicely in time for the Tara Tournament.

Tara started the day with two wins over rival London teams Fr Murphy's and Croydon. Following this they convincingly beat John Mitchell's and Liverpool 2nd team setting up a semi final place with Fullen Gaels from Manchester. Tara ran out winners in the semi final. Through out the day the Tara girls showed fantastic team awareness, picking each other out with ease. The new members to the club gelled well into the mix. Gilligan and Hamilton were leading the charge up front for the girls in blue and white, while in defence Casey and O'Donovan slotted in very nicely on either side of Grennan. A combination of Cummins and Cusack between the posts meant that Tara leaked very few goals. Kenneally and Murphy controlled things in the middle of the park throughout the day.

Liverpool Hope's 1st team reached the final after beating Fr Murphy's in the other Cup Semi Final. Liverpool Hope were reigning champions after winning the competition last year and a title they were not willing to let go easily. Tara got off to a great start notching up some quick scores from sharp shooter Denise Gilligan and Angela Kenneally. Tara went in at the break with a comfortable lead but there was still a lot of work to do. Tara started the second half very well and again notched up a few scores. However Liverpool were not done yet and made surge at the end grabbing a goal however it was too little to late and Tara were victorious.

Tara showed their true champion status following a day of some fantastic camogie. A great start to the year for the Tara Camogie Club and the day was nicely rounded off for captain Bid Grennan as she received Player of the Tournament.
Camogie Winners. Camogie Champions

Legends 2011
Denise Gilligan played with the the Galway Legends in the Biddy Phillips 7s competition on the eve of the All-Ireland Camogie Club finals. Galway were beaten by Kilkenny in the final but took some consolation in Killimor winning the Club Final. (Denise Mooney is still celebrating).

AGM 2011
Bid Grennan gets a promotion and is now Tara Chair with Rosie Cusack being retained as Vice.
We wish Niamh Keating the best of luck as she takes up her new role as Tara Secretary for the coming season. She will be ably assisted by Denise Mooney. Sheila Fernandes has the new role of Treasurer, joined by Anne Digan and Ann Gleeson as Assistants. Emer Fahy is PRO and Helen Murphy Child Officer. Best of luck to all ladies in their roles.

Wedding Bells
Congratulations to Niamh Pentony and Sean McLoughlin on their wedding on 10th June 2010 in the beautiful Mulranny, Co Mayo. Hope you both have a great life together.
