Tara faced a familiar foe in their opening game against Croydon. A competitive and hard fought game was eventually won by Tara. A comprehensive win against North America (all American-born) followed later in the day. A face off against Europe ensued for the top spot of the group. Tara were defeated and although momentarily downbeat, they were still in the cup competition on the Wednesday.

Results on Tuesday: Croydon 2-0 Tara 2-5. Tara 2-13 North America 0-0. Tara 0-5 Europe 3-4

Tara entered their first game against the Middle East knowing a win would put them in the mix for the top two places and a date in Croke Park in Friday's final. A fantastic fight back from 5 points down at half time showed Tara's true spirit and they ran out 4 point winners. A rematch with Europe was next up and this time Tara showed they had learned the lessons of their defeat on Tuesday and started strongly. Europe continued to threaten but a saved penalty and a mammoth effort saw Tara run out 2 point winners. A good win against Canada saw Tara successfully qualify for the final on Friday. The last game of the day was a warm-up match against Australasia and they ran out winner with a big score and plenty for Tara to think about for the final.

Results on Wednesday: Tara 2-4 Middle East 1-3. Europe 1-3 Tara 2-2. Australasia 5-4 Tara 0-1


Fridays Final. Croke Park offered apt reward for Tara's efforts over the week and the weather reflected this as it was perfect for hurling. Tara knew the job of contained the Australasian forwards would be tough and they got off to a blistering start. Slowly Tara came into the game and scores followed from Sarah MacNicholl, Clare Ryan and a great point from the sideline by Joanne Hamilton. The second half was more evenly fought with more scores from Fiona Morrissey who eventually finished the game with 1-5. Tara played with pride and fight and never gave up. A memorable day for the club as Helen Murphy led the team up the famous Hogan Stand steps to collect the runner up medals. A special mention to Sarah MacNicholl voted Tara's Etihad All Star for the games.
